Codes: AM1100How to use Adducted Arm Scoop
How to set up the Adducted Arm Scoop
Use the central slot on the support as a handhold. Insert the scoop between the mattress and table surface at the preferred position. Push the support bases in fully, leaving only a small gap for the patient’s arm to ensure stability and security.
How to position the patient's arm
Position the patient's arm inside the scoop. Do not leave the patient's hand or fingers hanging outside the edge of the base.
Run two fingers along the edge between arm and the scoop to ensure check there is a comfortable space between the patient's arm and the device to avoid pressure injury.
Padding placement (optional recommendation)
To enhance patient comfort and minimise the risk of pressure injuries, you can use gel pads or similar on the base before placing the patient’s arms.
Placement with intravenous (IV) on intra arterial (IA) line
When placing the scoop against a patient with IV or arterial lines, ensure the lines are kept clear of the device. Hold the lines above the patient’s arm to prevent them from becoming trapped between the skin and the scoop, or between the mattress and the scoop.
Using the device slots for patient strapping (optional)
If additional security is required, the device slots can be used to apply patient straps as needed.
How to store the device?
For a simple hanging solution, use the Storage System, a custom-designed, space-saving storage solution for the Adept Medical suite.
